Battery Replacement

Unscrew the light body and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light body back on.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent-quality battery.
  • Removing the battery or electrolyte leakage could damage the lamp if the light is not used for an extended period.
  • Unscrew the tail cap half a turn or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. Replace the ring with an approved spare to maintain a proper water seal.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance and keeps it the best EDC flashlight. Dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently, or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.

Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).

B: The threads, PCB board contact, or other contacts are dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Warning

  • Do NOT place this small EDC flashlight within children's reach!
  • Do NOT shine the flashlight directly into anyone's eyes!
  • Do NOT place the flashlight near flammable objects; high temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable/ignite!
  • Do NOT use the flashlight in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth, doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the flashlight or internal battery fails!
  • This flashlight will accumulate a significant amount of heat while operating, resulting in a high temperature of the flashlight shell. Pay close attention to avoid burns.
  • Turn off and lock the light or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • The LED of this good EDC flashlight is not replaceable, so the whole flashlight will need to be replaced when the LED reaches the end of its lifespan.

Great light with significant upgrades from v2

Really great upgrades from v2. Love the new memory feature and the magnetic tail adds a lot of functionality to this light. I love the little lines cut around the metal tail switch. I do miss the lines around the body in v2. While the new smooth body is easier to slide into a pocket it also makes it more slippery and also work its way out of your pocket. The new optic is nice and the smoother transition in the spot and spill is nice. But I really loved the gem like optic of v2. I think anyone who are familiar with modern flashlights will love this one. The unfortunate thing is the new features also moves this light out of the flashlight muggle territory and into the enthusiast territory. I’ve bought the v2 steadily since its inception due to its muggle friendly simple UI. Although most people I’ve given it to assume it’s a very expensive Duracell flashlight due to its copper bezel and gem like reflector. I bought 3 of these v3’s and the 2 people I attempted to give it to told me it was broken due to their inability to understand how memory mode works on these. In conclusion great light with great upgrades for all flashlight enthusiasts but not recommended for the average person who is unfamiliar with modern flashlights and their UI. Hopefully Fenix will continue to make the V2 for all the flashlight muggles I come across.

Great EDC Light

Enough light for most tasks. Small and light. Switch is robust enough to not accidentally get switched on during normal wear. The AA use means ultimate versatility. You need this flashlight!

Just what I wanted!

Bought three of them

Based on the first iteration, which my wife carries with her, I purchased three V2 editions, one for myself and two for friends they would never spend more than $5.00 on a flashlight. The were both delighted, and couldn't imagine that small a flashlight putting out so much illumination. Very satisfied. Of particular interest was using a throw away battery.

Not as good as v2

I just but the e12 v3. I bought it primarily for the magnet cap and the upgrade. First off, the beam is yellow. See photo. V2 was much more crisp white which I prefer outside at night. 2nd, as much as I like how strong the magnet cap is, the click response (changing intensity) was much more responsive with the rubber tail cap. It’s kind of temperamental and gritty.
Lastly, why did fenix do away with the bronze lens cap? Looked so much more distinct as a recent fenix! Reminds me of my older fenix lights. Please bring back the bronze!!

Great for emergencies

I have several AA and AAA Fenix lights including E05, E01 V2, E12 V2, and E20 V2. In my opinion these little lights are great for camping, power outages, and as an edc light. This light will run for 100hrs at 5lumens. I would obviously rather keep this light and a stash of AA batteries around to use this instead of candles in an emergency. The tint is more neutral and warmer than E12 V2, but it has farther throw. The only thing that I love/hate is the metal/magnet button. It's a great feature and appears tougher, but the rubber cap on E12 V2 was a smoother press. If you have an E12 V2 I wouldn't say you need to upgrade, but I like the extra throw, magnet, and extended low runtime.
